Noam Chomsky es una figura sumamente influyente en los campos de la lingüística, la filosofía y el activismo político. Nació el 7 de diciembre de 1928 en Filadelfia, Pensilvania, y cursó sus estudios de pregrado y posgrado en la Universidad de Pensilvania. Actualmente es profesor emérito e investigador distinguido en el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts (MIT), donde ha trabajado por más de medio siglo.
Chomsky es ampliamente considerado como el padre de la lingüística moderna y uno de los principales contribuyentes a la filosofía analítica. Es conocido por su teoría de la gramática generativa, la cual revolucionó el campo de la lingüística en el siglo XX. Esta teoría postula que la capacidad de usar el lenguaje es innata en los humanos y no solo se adquiere a través de la experiencia.
