Margot Bennett fue una autora y guionista escocesa, conocida principalmente por su trabajo en los géneros de crimen, misterio y thriller. Nació en 1912 y comenzó su carrera como redactora publicitaria en el Reino Unido y Australia, antes de descubrir su vocación como enfermera durante la Guerra Civil Española. Fue después de esta experiencia que se dedicó a la escritura, y aunque su producción fue relativamente pequeña, tuvo éxito y reconocimiento crítico.
El primer novel de Bennett, "The Man Who Didn't Fly", fue finalista del CWA Gold Dagger y resultó subcampeón en la categoría de Mejor Novela en los Edgars de 1956. Esto fue seguido por su victoria en el Gold Dagger dos años después en 1958 con "Someone from the Past". Su talento para la escritura fue nuevamente reconocido cuando fue seleccionada para contribuir con un relato corto a la segunda antología del CWA, "Choice Of Weapons", editada por Michael Gilbert.
