Georges Bellairs fue el seudónimo de Harold Blundell, un autor británico famoso por sus novelas de ficción criminal. Nacido en Heywood, Gran Manchester en 1902, Blundell trabajó como gerente de banco en Lancashire antes de retirarse a la Isla de Man. Fue allí donde escribió más de 50 novelas, muchas de las cuales presentaban a su famoso personaje, el Jefe Inspector Littlejohn.
Además de publicar bajo el seudónimo George Bellairs, Blundell también publicó libros bajo el nombre Hilary Landon, y produjo cuatro novelas bajo este seudónimo alternativo. Blundell no solo fue escritor, sino también gerente de banco, autor de crimen talentoso, periodista ocasional y francófilo. Era conocido por sus historias de detectives, que combinaban crímenes atroces y procedimientos policiales clásicos, situados en pequeñas comunidades británicas.
Blundell se casó en 1930 con Gladys Mabel Roberts y se le consideraba un francófilo, viajando con frecuencia a Francia. Escribió artículos para revistas y periódicos ingleses, compartiendo opiniones y noticias de Francia. Blundell también fue un filántropo notable y fue quite popular en la vida pública de Manchester, donde se desempeñó como miembro de la Junta de Hospitales Unidos de Manchester y como presidente de la Casa de Pacientes Privados. Falleció el 18 de abril de 1982.
