Delia Sherman nació en Tokio, Japón, en 1951 y es una reconocida escritora y editora de fantasía. Se crio en la ciudad de Nueva York, donde asistió a The Chapin School. Sherman continuó su educación en Vassar, donde obtuvo su licenciatura en 1972, y en la Universidad de Brown, donde recibió su maestría en artes y doctorado en 1975 y 1981, respectivamente. Su formación académica incluye la enseñanza en la Universidad de Boston y la Universidad Northeastern, donde impartió clases de Composición y Literatura Fantástica.
Sherman ha realizado aportes significativos a la literatura de fantasía. Es miembro del Endicott Studio y ha publicado numerosas historias para adultos y niños en diversas antologías. Delia Sherman está casada con Ellen Kushner, también escritora, con quien ocasionalmente colabora. La pareja se casó en 1996 y ha compartido su vida en la ciudad de Nueva York.
