Bill Pronzini, nacido el 13 de abril de 1943 en Petaluma, California, es un reconocido autor estadounidense conocido por su trabajo en los géneros de misterio, thriller, ciencia ficción, literatura y fantasía. Desde su infancia, a Pronzini le encantaba leer y, a los 12 años, desarrolló una fascinación por las digestiones de misterio y ciencia ficción, llegando a coleccionar alrededor de 3000 revistas pulp. Antes de convertirse en escritor de tiempo completo, Pronzini desempeñó varios trabajos, incluyendo ser canillita, reportero deportivo, portero de estacionamiento, vendedor de suministros de plomería, typista de oficina, almacenero y guardia civil civil para el transporte de prisioneros a tiempo parcial.
