Sir Arthur C. Clarke fue un autor y científico inglés, conocido principalmente por su trabajo en la literatura de ciencia ficción. Nació el 16 de diciembre de 1917 en Minehead, Inglaterra y es considerado uno de los "Tres Grandes" de la ciencia ficción, junto con Isaac Asimov y Robert A. Heinlein. Clarke es más famoso por su novela "2001: A Space Odyssey", que también co-escribió como guion para la película de Stanley Kubrick.
El currículum académico de Clarke es tan impresionante como su carrera literaria. Se graduó con honores de primera clase en física y matemáticas del King's College de Londres. Sus contribuciones a la ciencia y la tecnología van más allá de la literatura, ya que también es inventor y futurista. Clarke ha estado asociado con muchas organizaciones, incluyendo haber sido presidente anterior de la Sociedad Interplanetaria y miembro de la Academia de Astronautas, la Royal Astronomical Society y muchas otras organizaciones.
