Alan Stuart "Al" Franken es una persona muy conocida en la comedia y la política estadounidenses. Nació en Nueva York y ganó fama como escritor y intérprete en el popular programa de televisión Saturday Night Live. El trabajo de Franken en el programa le valió varios premios Emmy y estableció su posición como figura destacada en la comedia estadounidense.
Después de dejar Saturday Night Live, Franken dirigió su atención al comentario político. Escribió varios libros superventas, incluyendo "Rush Limbaugh es un gran idiota gordo" y "Mentiras y los mentirosos que las cuentan: Un vistazo justo y equilibrado a la derecha".
